Employment Tax Credits and Reliefs
There are a number of tax credits and reliefs available to those in employment in Ireland. These include the PAYE tax credit, trade union tax credit, certain work expenses and pension contributions). Click here for more information.

Tax Relief on Medical Bills
If you pay medical expenses that are not covered by the State or by private health insurance, you may claim tax relief on some of those expenses. These expenses include the costs involved in nursing home care. Tax relief is also available in Ireland for premiums paid for health insurance and for long-term care insurance. Older People’s Tax Credits and Reliefs
If you are aged 65 or over and live in Ireland, you are liable to pay income tax in the normal way. However, the tax exemption limits are much higher and there are some extra tax credits. Click here for more information.

One-Parent Family Tax Credits and Reliefs

Tax Relief for Tenants
If you live in private rented accommodation in Ireland and pay income tax, you may be eligible for tax relief on part of your rent. Click here for more information.

Tax Relief on Third Level Tuition Fees
You can claim tax relief on tuition fees for certain courses in third level institutions in Ireland. This includes undergraduate courses that are not approved under the free fees initiative (such as those in private colleges), part-time and postgraduate courses.
